Using Synctrack PayPal Tracking with Shopify Sidekick
Synctrack now integrates with Shopify Sidekick, the AI assistant built into your Shopify Admin. You can ask Sidekick natural-language questions about your PayPal/Stripe disputes and your tracking sync — "Which disputes need my response?", "Any orders not synced to PayPal this week?" — and get answers pulled directly from Synctrack, without opening the app. When a dispute needs action, Sidekick can take you straight to the right page in Synctrack with one click. This article covers what you can ask, what Sidekick returns, and the current limitations.
What is Shopify Sidekick?
Shopify Sidekick is the AI assistant that lives inside your Shopify Admin. You can open it from any page in Admin and ask questions in plain language — about your store, your orders, and (now) your disputes and tracking sync in Synctrack. Sidekick reads your question, and when it's about disputes or syncing tracking to PayPal/Stripe, it routes to Synctrack to fetch the answer.
Tip: You don't need to open the Synctrack app first. As long as your question mentions syncing tracking number to PayPal/Stripe, PayPal/Stripe dispute status, or the app name, Sidekick will pull the information.

Requirements
- Synctrack PayPal Tracking installed in your Shopify store.
- Shopify Sidekick available in your Admin (this depends on Shopify's rollout for your region and store type — most stores have it enabled by default).
- Asking Sidekick for information works on all plans. Sidekick adds no separate restriction of its own — it simply matches what your current plan already gives you inside Synctrack.
No extra setup is needed — once Synctrack is installed, the integration is ready.
First-time consent
The first time you ask Sidekick a dispute- or sync-related question, Sidekick will ask for your permission before accessing Synctrack data: "To check your disputes and tracking sync via Synctrack PayPal Tracking Sync, I'll need your permission to access that app's data. Do you consent?" — Choose Yes to allow it for this one request, or Yes, and don't ask again to grant permission for future requests as well. You can manage this permission later in Sidekick.

What you can ask Sidekick
Tips: For the most accurate answer:
- Be specific about the date range in your question — for example "disputes opened in the last 7 days" or "orders not synced between July 1 and July 8" — rather than a broad "recently".
- Be specific about the requirement instead of asking with general context.
1. Check tracking sync status
See how your tracking sync to PayPal/Stripe is doing — what synced successfully and what failed — or which orders still need attention (with specific date range).
Example questions:
- "How's my tracking sync so far?"
- "Which orders synced successfully this week?"
- "Any orders that failed to sync to PayPal?"
- "Why did order #1823 fail to sync?"

2. Check disputes that need your response
See which disputes are open or waiting on you, so you don't miss a deadline.
Example questions:
- "Which disputes need my response?"
- "Any open PayPal disputes right now?"
- "Do I have disputes with a deadline this week?"

3. Look up a specific dispute
Pull the status of one dispute, by dispute or by the related order (with specific date range).
Example questions:
- "What's the status of the dispute on order #1823?"
- "Show me the dispute for order #1234"
- "Is the dispute on order #5678 still open?"

What Sidekick returns
For tracking sync queries, Sidekick returns:
- Sync status (Synced, Not synced, or Failed)
- The order and its tracking number / carrier
- The reason an order failed to sync, if any
For dispute lookups, Sidekick returns:
- Gateway (PayPal or Stripe)
- Status (e.g. Needs Response, Under Review, Won, Lost)
- Amount and reason
- Response deadline, if one applies
For list queries (orders not synced, disputes needing response), Sidekick returns a short list with the key details. To act on a dispute — respond, provide evidence, or take another action — choose to open it, and Sidekick navigates you to that dispute in Synctrack so you can review and save the changes yourself.
Quota behavior
Queries through Sidekick do not count toward your quota. Asking Sidekick to list disputes, check sync status, or look up a specific dispute is free from a quota perspective — you can query as often as you like. (Your tracking sync quota still applies to the sync itself inside the app, as before.)
Limitations
- Sidekick can only see data that has been synced into Synctrack. If a dispute or order hasn't synced yet, Sidekick won't find it.
- Sidekick does not change anything on its own. It can look up disputes and sync status and take you to the right page, but it cannot submit evidence, respond to a dispute, or change settings — you always review and Save yourself in the app.
- Full dispute detail is not returned by Sidekick. For the complete evidence wizard, messages, and history, open the dispute in Synctrack.
- Multi-store: for security, you must be signed into a specific store to ask about that store — you cannot ask about one store's data from another store. If you need a combined view across stores, contact our support team and we'll help.
- Response length is limited. If you ask Sidekick to list "all disputes" or "all unsynced orders" for a large store, it returns the most recent subset — not the full list.
- Sidekick availability depends on Shopify. If Sidekick isn't visible in your Admin yet, that's a Shopify rollout state, not a Synctrack issue.
Troubleshooting
Sidekick says it can't find my dispute or order
Open Synctrack and check whether the dispute or order is listed and synced. Verify the order number or dispute you're asking about is correct.
Sidekick doesn't call Synctrack when I ask
Make sure Synctrack PayPal Tracking is installed and active in your store. Try rephrasing with an explicit keyword — mention Paypal/Stripe disputes, syncing tracking to PayPal/Stripe, or the app name.
The link from Sidekick doesn't open the right page
Make sure you're logged into the same Shopify Admin (and the correct store) in this browser session. If it still doesn't open correctly, contact our support team with a screenshot.
Sidekick isn't showing up in my Admin
Sidekick is a Shopify feature — Synctrack can't enable it for you. Contact Shopify support to check availability for your store.
