Connect your PayPal & Stripe account for Dispute Management
To manage disputes, Synctrack needs to connect to the PayPal/Stripe account that receives them. All payment accounts — for both tracking sync and Dispute Management — are connected in one place: Settings > Account settings > Payment gateway, one tab per gateway.
Plan: connecting your gateways works on every plan, including Free, and there is no limit on how many accounts you connect. Responding to the disputes they bring in requires Basic or above.
Connect Paypal
You'll need a PayPal Business account. You can connect more than one PayPal account. There are two ways to connect:
- Connect with PayPal (recommended) — log in to PayPal once. No PayPal Developer Dashboard needed.
- Connect Paypal Development Account — paste a Client ID and Secret key from the PayPal Developer Dashboard.
Option 1: Connect with PayPal (recommended)

- Go to Settings > Account settings > Payment gateway and open the Paypal tab. Scroll to the Dispute management card.
- Click Connect with PayPal.
- A PayPal window opens (allow pop-ups if it doesn't show). Log in to your PayPal Business account and agree to connect it with Synctrack.
- When you see PayPal account connected, close the window and return to Synctrack. Your account appears in the Dispute management card with its Merchant ID.
Synctrack fetches your existing disputes right after you connect, then checks for new ones about every 10 minutes (new disputes typically show up within 15 minutes). Disputes are only fetched while Protect your store from chargebacks is switched on.
Note: The connection link is valid for 10 minutes. If you see "This link has expired", close the window and click Connect with PayPal again. Accounts connected this way can't be edited — to change one, delete it and connect again.
Already connected PayPal for tracking sync?
You don't need to log in again. If you connected PayPal in the Connecting app with Paypal card to sync tracking numbers, the same connection can power Dispute Management.
In the Dispute management card, under Use your connected PayPal account for disputes, click Use for disputes next to the account. If you see "Reconnect this PayPal account to use it for disputes", the old connection is missing the dispute permission — click Connect with PayPal and log in with that account again.
Option 2: Connect with Client ID and Secret key
Prefer to use your own PayPal app? Connect with a Client ID and Secret key from your PayPal Developer Dashboard. This option registers a webhook, so new disputes arrive in real time.
Step 1: Open the connect dialog
Go to Settings > Account settings > Payment gateway > Paypal tab and, in the Dispute management card, click Connect Paypal Development Account. A dialog opens asking for your account Email, Client ID, and Secret key.

Step 2: Get your Client ID and Secret key
- Go to the PayPal Developer Dashboard and log in.
- Open Apps & Credentials and switch to Live mode using the toggle in the top-right corner.

- Click Create App, enter an app name, and click Create App again.

- Scroll to the Features section and make sure Customer disputes is checked.

- Scroll up to API credentials and copy the Client ID and Secret key.

Step 3: Paste and save
Paste the Email, Client ID, and Secret key into Synctrack and click Save. The PayPal card switches to connected, and Synctrack registers a webhook so new disputes arrive in real time.
Note: We only require minimal access, so rest assured your PayPal account(s) will always be safe. Getting available disputes from a newly connected account for the first time may take a while, depending on how many disputes you have. To add another account, just repeat these steps.

Connect Stripe
How to connect Stripe
Synctrack connects to Stripe with a restricted key. For the full step-by-step of creating the key, follow Connect Stripe account for Sync tracking number — for disputes the only difference is that the key must also include Files: Write (needed to submit evidence).
Already connected Stripe for tracking sync? (good to know)
You don't need to connect Stripe again. If you already connected Stripe to sync tracking numbers, the same restricted key already powers Dispute Management — there's no separate connection to make. On the Stripe tab of Settings > Account settings > Payment gateway, the Dispute management card simply says it shares the Stripe accounts above. If tracking sync to Stripe is off, add a key for disputes with Add Stripe token in that same card.
The only thing to check: that key was likely created without Files: Write, which is the permission required to submit evidence. You can still view all your disputes (list, details, deadlines) without it — you only need to add Files to submit. Just update the existing key, you don't recreate or re-paste it:
- Open your existing restricted key in Stripe → Edit key.

- Turn on Files: Write (keep all other permissions).

- Save — the key value stays the same, so nothing else changes in Synctrack.
