DingDoong plans, billing & how to upgrade or downgrade
Understand DingDoong's four plans, how billing works through Shopify, and how to change your plan anytime.
Overview
DingDoong has four plans β Free, Essential, Smart, Enterprise β so you can start small and unlock more as you grow. Each plan can be billed monthly, yearly (discounted), or as a lifetime purchase, selected with the cycle toggle on the Pricing page. All charges go through Shopify Billing and appear on your Shopify invoice; DingDoong never stores your payment details.
Before you start
- You can approve app charges on your store (store owner or staff with billing access).
- Open the in-app Pricing page for current prices and the full feature comparison β prices are shown live there.
Plan tiers at a glance
Each plan lists its quota, location limit, and feature set on the Pricing page. Roughly:
Plan | Who it's for | Location limit* |
|---|---|---|
Free | Trying scheduling on a small store | 1 |
Essential | Stores running daily delivery/pickup | 2 |
Smart | Busy stores needing advanced controls | 5 |
Enterprise | High-volume / multi-location operations | 20 |
- Location limits per current code; confirm on the Pricing page. For what each tier unlocks (e.g., order limits & specific products = Essential+; overrides, surcharges, customer note, Google Calendar sync = Smart+; checkout-page picker = Enterprise + Shopify Plus), see the feature comparison on the Pricing page.
Billing cycles
Each paid plan offers monthly, yearly (discounted), or lifetime (one-time) billing β switch with the cycle toggle on the Pricing page.
How to upgrade your plan
Here's how, step by step:
Step 1: Open the Pricing page
In the DingDoong admin, go to Pricing.

Step 2: Choose a plan and billing cycle
Toggle Monthly / Yearly / Lifetime, compare the tiers, and select your plan.
Step 3: Approve the charge in Shopify
Shopify shows the charge approval screen. Click Approve β you're returned to DingDoong with the new plan active immediately.
How to downgrade or cancel
Open Pricing, select a lower tier (or Free), and approve. Shopify prorates charges between plans automatically. To stop charges entirely, downgrade to Free; to end the subscription completely, uninstall the app from your Shopify admin.
Common scenarios
Seasonal upgrade
Upgrade before a peak season (BFCM, Christmas), then downgrade after β your configuration is preserved either way.
Monthly β yearly
Select the same plan with the yearly cycle; Shopify prorates your unused monthly time.
Try a premium feature
Upgrade, test it; if it's not for you, downgrade β settings for locked features are kept and reactivate if you upgrade again.
Configuration options
Option | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Plan | Free / Essential / Smart / Enterprise | Higher tiers unlock more features + locations |
Billing cycle | Monthly / Yearly / Lifetime | Yearly discounted; Lifetime one-time |
Upgrade / Downgrade | Change anytime on Pricing | Shopify prorates automatically |
Tips & Best practices
Troubleshooting
I upgraded but the feature is still locked?
Reload the app (or reopen it from Shopify admin) so the new plan registers. If it persists after approving the charge, contact support.
I was charged after uninstalling?
Shopify bills app subscriptions in 30-day cycles; a final prorated invoice can appear. Billing is handled by Shopify, but contact us and we'll help.
FAQ
Will I lose settings when downgrading?
No β settings and data are kept; features above your new tier are locked, not deleted, and resume if you upgrade again. (Note: location limits drop β review before downgrading if you run multiple stores.)
Is there a free trial?
Trial availability, when offered, is shown on the in-app Pricing page.
How do I cancel completely?
Downgrade to Free to stop charges while keeping the app, or uninstall the app to end the subscription.
