📘 FAQ - Troubleshooting and Common Questions

1. Q: Why have all my discounts disappeared or moved to drafts?

A:

This usually happens when your store reaches its monthly extra revenue quota or during system synchronization.

Possible causes:

  • Over quota: When you exceed your plan’s monthly extra revenue limit, all active offers automatically move to Draft to prevent additional billing.
  • Manual change: A staff member or collaborator might have set offers to draft.
  • Theme or API update: When the store theme or app API changes, Pareto may reset offer states for safety.

To fix:

  1. Go to Pareto → Pricing Plan.
  2. Check on Your Current Plan section.
  3. If you’re over quota, upgrade or wait for the next cycle. After upgraded, all your rules will be activated back immediately

2. Q: When I add a free gift to an offer that already has a discount, why is my discount removed?

A:

There are a few possible reasons (our dev team can confirm in detail), but most cases fall into these two:

  1. “Combine with other discounts” is turned off.

When this setting isn’t enabled for both offers, Shopify will apply only one discount.

  1. Both offers target the same product as product-level discounts.

Shopify allows only one product discount per item, so the system keeps the highest-value discount and removes the other.

To fix:

  • Go to your free gift offer and your discount offer → Advanced Settings → Combine with other discounts → turn it ON (if supported).
  • Make sure the free gift product is different from the discounted item.
  • If both must apply to the same item, use the One Discount campaign type to combine them safely.
  • Test using Preview Mode before going live.

If it still doesn’t work as expected, contact us via live chat in the app — our support team will help check your campaign setup directly.

3. Q: The app layout changed after an update. How can I revert to the previous format?

A:

Layout resets may occur after major updates for compatibility.

While you can’t revert layouts manually, the Pareto team can revert it from our side. Please kindly contact us via live chat in app to revert it.

4. Q: How do I change the “+ Add” button text to another language?

A:

Manual edits aren’t supported for this editing, we offer you use other type of layout without having "+ Add" button on the widget. Otherwise, the Pareto team can customize it for your from basic plan. Please kindly contact us via live chat in app to request customize editing & translating it.

5. Q: Can I use HTML in the “Campaign Name” field to show discounted prices?

A:

No. HTML or Liquid code is not supported in the Campaign Name or Display Name fields by default.

To show dynamic pricing, use variables inside the Label field in Advanced Settings, such as:

  • {discount_value} → Discount amount
  • {price_after_discount} → Final price after discount

However, we do offer to customize this field, letting you to input your custom css text in this field. You need to be on paid plan, and contact us via live chat.

6. Q: My app page shows an error after being left open for a long time. Refreshing doesn’t fix it.

A:

Shopify’s embedded apps can lose session tokens after inactivity.

To fix:

  1. Close the tab completely and reopen Pareto from Shopify Admin → Apps.
  2. If the error remains: contact support via live chat - the dev team will re-sync your session.

7. Q: Where can I set minimum order quantities?

A:

Pareto focuses on discount tiers, not quantity restrictions.

To enforce a purchase minimum, use Shopify’s Order Limits feature or our same brand app: Pareto ‑ Order Limits Quantity.

Using Pareto Limits Quantity ensures both app works together perfectly

8. Q: Does Pareto conflict with subscription apps?

A:

Depends, in some cases it does. If your subscription app changes the product’s price dynamically, Pareto’s calculated discount may become incorrect.

To minimize conflict:

  • Use Compare-at Price as the discount base (in One Discount type only.
  • Apply Pareto discounts before subscription logic.
  • Test your checkout after enabling both apps.

Contact support with your store URL and app name for compatibility checks.

9. Q: Why can’t I save a new rule? It says the product is already in another offer.

A:

Pareto allows only one rule per product group/product/product variant at a time, even if another is in draft mode.

This prevents duplicated logic.

To fix:

  • Edit or delete the existing rule that uses the same product.
  • Or change your new rule’s product or create a new collection target.

10. Q: Why is there a delay in the cart updating after adding a product from an upsell?

A:

There’s usually no actual delay. Shopify Functions recalculate discounts only after cart updates, which can look like a short pause.

To improve speed:

  • Ensure your theme uses AJAX cart updates (cart.js).
  • Disable heavy scripts in your cart drawer.
  • Test in Chrome or Safari with cache cleared.

11. Q: Why can’t I duplicate a rule?

A:

This happens because the app checks that each product/product group/product variant/collection can only have one discount active at a time for a specific product/product group/product variant/collection respectively.

When you duplicate a rule with the same product(s) and same target group, the system blocks it to prevent multiple discounts from stacking or conflicting.

If you need multiple discount versions for the same product (for example, targeting different audiences), contact Pareto live chat - our support team can guide you through advanced setup or segmentation options.

12. Q: How do I test a discount before going live?

A:

You can safely test your discount setup using a test theme before publishing it live.

To test safely:

  1. Go to your Campaign List in Pareto.
  2. Click Preview Campaign (eye icon).
  3. Add products to your cart and verify the discount logic, price display, and widget behavior.

Recommended for deeper testing:

  • Use a test theme (duplicate of your live theme) → Embed Pareto to that test theme instead of your main theme.
  • This lets you test layout, widgets, and discount behavior privately without affecting customers.
  • If you need to test on the live store, do it during low-traffic hours to minimize customer impact.

If you’re unsure how to embed to your test theme, contact Pareto live chat, and our support team can guide you step-by-step.

13. Q: How can I change where the discount widget appears on my store?

A:

You can reposition the widget from Widget Settings → Placement.

Options include:

  • Product page (default)
  • Cart page
  • Custom position (via code snippet)

If you want to show it in a custom section, please contact support. We’ll assist you with embed placement.

14. Q: How do I combine multiple offers into one discount?

A:

Use the One Discount feature.

This merges different offer types (quantity breaks, bundle, free gift) into one clean discount campaign.

To enable:

  1. Go to Campaign Type → One Discount.
  2. Add your desired sub-offers.
  3. Choose how each discount tier behaves.

If you only want to use one part (e.g., quantity breaks only), remove other sub-offers and save.

15. Q: How can I contact support for help?
