[Intergration] Pareto Quantity Breaks & Discount X Pareto - Order Limits Quantity

Integration Case: Limit Discount Usage per Offer

The Maximum allowed uses feature lets you control how many times a discount offer can be redeemed by integrating with Pareto Limit.

This helps protect margins, prevent over-redemption, and automatically stop discounts when limits are reached.

Before you start

To use Maximum allowed uses, you need:

  • An active offer in Pareto
  • The Pareto Limit app installed

If Pareto Limit is not installed, you’ll be prompted to install it.

How Maximum allowed uses works

When Pareto Limit is not installed

  • A prompt explains the benefits of limiting discount usage
  • Click Install to enable Limit discount to open the app listing
  • Limits cannot be configured until installation is complete

When Pareto Limit is installed but not set up

  • Message displayed:Save your offers to lock in your setup, then use Pareto Limit to control how many times the discount can be redeemed.
  • Click Set up in Pareto Limit to create a limit rule for the offer

When Pareto Limit is installed and a rule exists

  • Limit fields are shown in Pareto Quantity as read-only:
    • Limit total usages (for example: 10 – Lifetime)
    • Limit usage per customer (for example: 1)
  • Click Edit in Pareto Limit to open create the respective rule type in Pareto Limit
  • If a limit value is 0, that limit field is hidden in Pareto Quantity

When the offer is turned off

  • All limit fields remain disabled
  • Edit in Pareto Limit is disabled
  • You can not create/edit limit for specific discount rule when that discount offer is not active

Checkout behavior (settings in Pareto Limit)

When a discount reaches its usage limit:

  • The discount stops applying automatically
  • Customers see a warning on the cart page that the discount has reached its usage limit
  • No manual action is required

For stores on Shopify Plus using the Pareto Limit paid plan:

  • Checkout blocking is supported
  • Customers are prevented from completing checkout when a limited discount has reached its usage cap
  • A clear warning message is displayed at checkout explaining why the discount cannot be used

Note

Checkout blocking is available only on Shopify Plus and requires an active Pareto Limit paid plan.

Why use Maximum allowed uses?

  • Protect your profit margins
  • Prevent accidental over-redemption
  • Run limited promotions safely
  • Control discount abuse at checkout
