Notify customers when their order is "Ready for pickup"

Notify customers when their order is "Ready for pickup"

Automatically email pickup customers the moment their order is ready — triggered when you mark it "Ready for pickup" in the Order report.

Available on all plans.

Overview

This email tells customers they can come collect their order. It fires based on the DingDoong status you set in the Order report, not Shopify's status.

Before you start

How to set it up

Here's how, step by step:

Step 1: Verify your sender email

Go to General settings → Email notifications → Verify your email address and confirm via the verification email.

Step 2: Turn on "Ready for pickup"

Toggle on the Ready for pickup email reminder.

Step 3: Edit content (optional) & preview

Customize the wording if you like, and preview it.

Step 4: Send a test

Send a demo test to confirm it looks right in a real inbox.

How it triggers

In the Order report, select the order → Update status → Ready for pickup. The customer receives the email automatically.

Common scenarios

Bakery / florist pickup

Mark items ready as they're finished; customers get notified to collect.

Batch notifications

Use bulk status update in the Order report to notify many pickup customers at once.

Tips & Best practices

The email only fires when you set the "Ready for pickup" status — make updating status part of your prep workflow so customers are always notified.

Send yourself a test after editing the content so customers never receive a broken email.

Troubleshooting

The email didn't send?

Confirm your sender email is verified, the toggle is on, and you set the status to "Ready for pickup" in the Order report.

FAQ

Does Shopify's status trigger it?

No — it's the DingDoong status in the Order report.

How do I turn it off?

Toggle off "Ready for pickup" in Email notifications.
