DingDoong FAQ: frequently asked questions

DingDoong FAQ: frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions merchants ask us most, with links to the full guides.

Setup & compatibility

Does DingDoong work with my theme?

Yes — DingDoong is designed to work with all Shopify themes. Most work out of the box; some custom themes need a small free adjustment from our team. See Ensuring App Compatibility with Your Theme.

Where can the date picker appear?

Product page, cart page, cart drawer, or checkout. The cart page is the most popular position. See Where can you display date picker?

Can I test without affecting my live store?

Yes — duplicate your theme and test there. See How to create a test theme and How to place an order test.

Does the widget slow down my store?

No. The widget script loads asynchronously through Shopify's app embed system and only on pages where it's displayed.

Delivery methods & scheduling

Can I offer different schedules for different products?

Yes — use Product availability to scope each method, and override rules for exception products.

Can I limit how many orders I take per day or per time slot?

Yes. See How to limit orders. When a day or slot reaches its limit, customers can no longer select it.

Can I block holidays?

Yes — add blackout dates per method. For extra working days outside your normal schedule, use exception dates.

Can I charge extra for specific days or time slots?

Yes — see Add surcharge per day and Add surcharge per timeslot.

Does DingDoong create shipping rates?

You can manage rates with DingDoong's Rates feature, or keep using Shopify native rates. We recommend managing rates in DingDoong for the smoothest checkout.

Orders & customers

What happens if a customer checks out without picking a date?

Two options: make the date required before checkout, or enable Auto-Recovery so DingDoong automatically emails the customer to pick a date afterwards — see Auto-Recovery: Automatically recover orders with missing delivery dates

Can customers change their delivery date after ordering?

Yes — add the reschedule date picker to your order status page, and customers can pick a new date themselves. Confirmation emails are sent to both the customer and your staff. See Let customers reschedule their delivery date from the order status page(Widget Appearance & Placement).

Where do I see all scheduled orders?

In the Order report — sync, filter, update statuses (ready for pickup, out for delivery…) and export CSV. See How to sync Shopify orders for report in DingDoong.

Does the selected date appear in the order confirmation email?

Yes, with a small snippet added to your Shopify notification template. See How to confirm selected schedule in order confirmation email.

Languages & display

Can the date picker display in my language?

Yes — translate every text field, with an auto-translate option. See How to have date picker in another language.

Can I change the calendar colors and layout?

Yes — 5 layouts, custom colors, button shapes, date formats and more. See Customize your widget appearance

Billing & data

How does billing work? Can I change plans?

Plans are billed through Shopify. You can upgrade or downgrade anytime from the in-app Pricing page. See DingDoong plans, billing & how to upgrade or downgrade (Plans, Billing & Upgrades).

How long is my order data stored?

You control it — set a data retention period and older records are automatically deleted. See Data privacy

What happens to my settings if I uninstall?

Uninstalling removes the widget immediately. If you reinstall later, you'll need to reconfigure your settings, so we recommend disabling the app embed instead if the pause is temporary.
